Anti-Bullying
Our Approach to Preventing and Responding to Bullying
At Harris Academy Beulah Hill, we are proud to foster a culture of kindness, respect and inclusion. Bullying is rare within our community — and when it does occur, it is dealt with swiftly, sensitively and effectively.
What our Students Say
- Our student survey confirms that the vast majority of students have never encountered bullying.
- Those who had heard of an incident told us that staff dealt with it promptly and effectively.
This is backed up by our internal data. Since September there have been 4 recorded instances of bullying that have resulted in a sanction. Each instance was thoroughly investigated, parents contacted and restorative conversations sensitively conducted. There have been no repeat instances of bullying this year.
Prevention First
- Explicit Teaching: Anti-bullying themes are embedded in our Character Curriculum, assemblies, tutor time and PSHE lessons.
- Positive Culture: Our reward systems, student leadership roles and inclusive enrichment offer help build a community where bullying is less likely to occur.
- Staff Visibility: High staff presence during social times and transitions ensures students feel safe and supported across the site.
Rapid and Fair Response
- Clear Reporting Channels: Students can report concerns to any adult, via their planner, through peer mentors, or directly to the safeguarding team.
- Thorough Investigation: All reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly, with statements gathered and outcomes communicated clearly.
- Restorative and Protective Measures: Where appropriate, restorative conversations are used to rebuild relationships. Protective steps — such as adjusted timetables, supervision, or counselling — are put in place to support affected students.
Working Together
- Parent Partnership: Families are kept informed and involved at every stage, with clear communication and collaborative planning.
- Multi-Agency Support: Where needed, we work with external services to provide additional care and guidance.

Why It Works
- Trust and Transparency: Students know that staff will listen and act — and that bullying is never ignored.
- Consistency and Care: Our response is always proportionate, fair and ocused on long-term wellbeing.
- Culture of Respect: By embedding kindness and professionalism into every part of school life, we make bullying the exception — not the norm.
