Alumni Stories
Alumni story: Daria Kapron
Academy: Harris Academy Beulah Hill
Current role: Computer Science student at University of Liverpool
1. Tell us a bit about your background.
I graduated from Harris Academy Beulah Hill in 2024, where I studied Computer Science, Mathematics, and Spanish for my A-Levels. I also earned 10 GCSEs, including high grades in English, Mathematics, and Sciences. Now, I’m studying at the University of Liverpool, diving deeper into technology and problem-solving.
2. What path did you take after school?
After leaving Harris Academy, I moved to Liverpool to study Computer Science at their university. I’ve always been fascinated by how technology works, and university seemed like the perfect place to explore that interest. I joined societies and clubs, some related to things I've never tried and some about activities I used to do, it has been an eventful experience. During my first couple of months at Liverpool, I tried a lot of new things, most of which were food, but that's beside the point. I don't regret choosing to move to a university that is 'further out' as it allowed me to develop as a person and see what I'm capable of when I don't have my parents to rely on.
3. What motivates and inspires you?
I’m driven by the challenge of solving problems and my genuine curiosity as to why things work the way they work. There’s something really rewarding about the process of figuring things out and seeing the results of your work. Something I read a while ago that also stuck with me: "You don't need money to understand how the world works. You just need to put yourself first and grab all the opportunities that come your way." However, my biggest motivation and inspiration have been my parents and close relatives, they've been very encouraging and supportive ever since I started this learning journey and I most likely would've given up a long while ago without them.
4. What are your current plans?
Right now, my focus is on my studies and building my connections whether it be through teachers, course mates, or employers, but I’m also looking for ways to gain more practical experience. I’d love to get involved in software or tech consulting in the future, and I’m always on the lookout for new projects where I can use my organisational skills and creativity. I’m excited about what’s next and looking forward to what is in store for me in the days to come.
5. Do you have any advice for current students?
My advice would be to embrace new opportunities, even if they seem a bit outside your comfort zone and even if you'd have to start alone. Try to make choices that you know you won't regret, no one wants to look back reminiscing about what could've been if. Whether it’s helping someone or being part of a creative project, every experience teaches you something valuable. It’s not always about having everything figured out. It’s about being able to handle whatever comes your way. Lastly, learn because you are curious not because you were told to, genuine curiosity is what will help you push forward and learn about the world.

Academy: Harris Academy Beulah Hill
Current role: Associate at Strategy & Deals
1. Tell us a bit about your background.
I graduated from Beulah Hill and then went on to study Chemistry at Queen Mary University of London, where I completed my BSc from 2018 to 2021. After that, I pursued an MSc in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London, which I completed in 2023. My academic journey allowed me to build a solid foundation in science, which I’m now applying in the business world.
2. What path did you take after school?
After finishing my master’s at Imperial College, I started working at Strategy& in September 2023 as an Associate. It’s been an exciting transition from science to consulting, but I’m able to leverage the problem-solving and analytical skills I developed during my studies. I’m working on strategic projects, helping clients navigate complex challenges and make informed decisions.
3. What motivates and inspires you?
I’m motivated by challenges that require critical thinking and problem-solving. Whether it’s analysing a complex chemical process or helping a business improve its strategy, I enjoy finding solutions to difficult problems. I’m also inspired by the people I work with- there’s always something new to learn from my colleagues and mentors, which keeps me motivated to grow and improve.
4. What are your current plans?
Right now, I’m focused on making the most of my time at Strategy& and continuing to develop my skills in strategy consulting. I’m excited about the projects I’m working on and look forward to taking on more responsibility in the future. I also want to continue expanding my knowledge in areas where business and technology intersect, as I believe that’s where the most exciting opportunities lie.
5. Do you have any advice for current students?
My advice would be to remain curious and open-minded. University is a great time to explore different subjects and career paths. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and try something new. Also, focus on developing both your technical and soft skills- being able to think analytically is just as important as being able to communicate effectively with others.
