Rewards

Celebrating Effort, Character and Achievement

At Harris Academy Beulah Hill, we believe that positive behaviour should be recognised, celebrated and made visible. Our rewards system is designed to reinforce the values of scholarship, compassion and aspiration — and to make doing the right thing feel great.

Our Approach

We use a multi-layered rewards framework that recognises both individual excellence and collective effort. It’s built around three key principles:

Principle

What It Means

Consistency

Every student knows what earns rewards — and sees them applied fairly.

Visibility

Rewards are public, celebrated and shared across the community.

Motivation

Students are inspired to improve, not just comply — building intrinsic drive.

How Students Are Rewarded

1. Harris Points System

Points are awarded for:

  • Excellent effort in lessons
  • Outstanding homework
  • Attendance and punctuality
  • Enrichment participation

Points are tracked via Bromcom and used for:

  • Weekly assembly shout outs
  • 100% attendance and punctuality badges
  • Termly rewards evenings and certificates

Harris Points

Student Actions

1 HP

Perfect uniform, full equipment, positive contribution in class

2 HPs

Continued positive contributions in class, well written paragraph, offering to help another student/teacher

5 HPs

Contributions to extra-curricular events (e.g. Open Evening), great framed piece of work, excellent piece of HW.

Golden Ticket

(10 HPs)

For consistently exemplary work in the subject over a period of several lessons. (Roughly 1 Golden Ticket should be awarded per class, per week)

Golden ticket 2      Golden ticket 1

 2. Weekly Shout Outs

  • Students who meet all expectations (uniform, equipment, attendance and punctuality) are recognised with Harris Points
  • Certificates and shout-outs in tutor time

3. Community Challenges & Celebration Events

  • Tutor group or whole school competitions (e.g. attendance, points, enrichment)
  • Principal’s Breakfast and Tutor-Group Pizza Parties
  • Termly certificates and public praise in assemblies
  • End of Year Rewards Trips

Why It Works

  • Students feel seen – effort is noticed and praised.
  • Positive culture spreads – rewards make good behaviour contagious.
  • Parents stay informed – regular updates and visible recognition build home-school partnership.
  • Self-esteem – builds pride and consistency across all students
  • Inclusive – rewards open to all students for a wide range of achievements, not just academic
